This Apprenticeship has been designed to provide access to development opportunities for a wide range of people including those who wish to take their first steps into professional management, as well as those who have developed practical experience but wish to gain a theoretical understanding of management theories, approaches and techniques. As part of the programme you will also develop your ability to lead, motivate and inspire others by undertaking the Diploma for Leaders and Managers.

Support for Apprentices and StudentsThis Apprenticeship is suitable for managers from all sectors, private, public or third sector, and all sizes of organisation. An operations/departmental manager is generally someone who is able to manage teams and/or projects and has responsibility for planning, delivering and achieving departmental goals and objectives. They are accountable to a more senior manager, head of department or small business owner, and are responsible for the operational and/or policy delivery of the organisation’s strategy.
During the apprenticeship you will gain a wide range of knowledge and skills including creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, leading and managing teams, managing change, financial and resource management, talent management, coaching and mentoring. As part of you programme of learning you will undertake a work related project which will enable you to apply what you have learnt to your own organisation and job role.
This Diploma is ideal for individuals who manage teams or projects and are responsible for achieving operational or departmental goals and objectives as part of their organisation’s strategy. It will enable you to develop your ability to lead, motivate and inspire others and drive better results, use core management techniques to provide practical leadership and operational management skills, benchmark your managerial capability against other professionals and raise your professional profile within your organisation.
Throughout your Apprenticeship your Training Consultant will work with you to identify areas for development and design and deliver training to meet these needs. Continuous assessment activities will be used to ensure you develop the competencies you need to achieve the Apprenticeship standard. Once training has been completed you will demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours you have learnt through a work based project, presentation followed by questions and answers and a professional discussion based on a portfolio of work you will build during your apprenticeship.
All organisations require professional managers who have a firm understanding of operational business planning techniques and there are a wealth of opportunities available in organisations of all sizes in every sector. Job titles which require the knowledge and the skills acquired through this Apprenticeship include: Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Divisional Manager, Department Manager and specialist managers.
